Dear Julie,
Today, we had a great day. We met with the building inspector and fire marshal this morning, and they don't see a problem with building the studio onto the back of the house. It was great news! Now we just have to wait until the spring, when we start construction on the studio, and they'll return for another visit. After we left our house, we headed to the farm. You took a three hour nap today! The longest nap you've ever taken at the farm. You played with your new kitchen set (that you haven't technically received yet, since it's a present from aunt Sara), ate a good lunch, and napped again. It was a pretty laid back day.
We made it home after dance class at the farm, and got ready for bed. Bedtime didn't go as planned. You were tired, and ready to sleep. However, when I nursed you, you bit me. Hard. I screamed, and you laughed. I told you not to bite mama, that it hurt, and wasn't funny. When you switched sides, you but me again, even harder, and laughed even harder. I'm not sure how to make you understand that it isn't funny, but it the biting continues, our nursing sessions may end quicker than I thought. Ok not ready to wean you, and you still love your boobies. However, you can't hurt mama. I love you little one, but I can't wait for this "find pain funny" phase to end.

November 18
Dear Julie,
Today, we celebrated your first birthday! The morning started with a shopping trip to Food City, for breakfast, rolls, and an onion, then we stopped for cinnamon rolls at the Sugar Street Bakery, and headed to Nana and Papa'll's house. Nanny and Angel spent all day helping me prepare for the party, while you played with dada and poppy. Nanny started cooking food, while Angel and I worked on your birthday cake. It was all going great, until Nanny lost a bandaid inside the turkey. She and dada looked, and couldn't find it, so she went ahead and baked the turkey. Angel and Indecided the best option was to make sure we carved the turkey in hopes of finding the bandaid, before the party started.
We cooked so much food! There was a turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, deviled eggs, glazed carrots, stuffing, con in the cob, broccoli salad, rolls, and Aunt Sara brought a big pot of green beans! The food was wonderful, and you inhaled your dinner. Your cake was the highlight of the food table! It turned out better than I could have ever expected!
We had a great turn out for your party. I didn't invite very many people - just family, and those we consider family. We asked that instead of gifts, everyone bring a donation for the food pantry. Unfortunately, only 1-2 people listed to my wishes. However, that meant you had presents to open. Lilly and Eliza helped open them and play with them! You got s new outfit from Nellie & Richard, a baby stella dolls from Nanny & Poppy, musical books from the Rainey family, and a tricycle from the Sheets family! You mad more fun opening the presents and playing with the bags and paper than the actual presents, and your favorite part was the birthday cards. You also managed to tear a page of our your book within minutes of opening it! Dada taped it back together, and we'll always remember when that page was torn.
After presents, we put you in your high chair, so you could try your cake! Papa'll made you a special birthday smash cake, and was so excited for everyone to see his work, and for you to try it. You did much better with his cake than you did with the cake from your birthday photos. You touched it, played with it, ate a few bites, and tried to share it with everyone. Once you were cleaned up, everyone enjoyed their own slice of the turkey cake, then the party was over.
It was a wonderful day, and I can't wait to celebrate more over the next week. I love you baby girl. Happy (almost) birthday!

Post 89 - February 20
Dear Julie,
Today was your first dance competition! It's also Aubt Sara'a birthday! We called and talked to her, but spent most of our day surrounded by fake tans, glitter, and hairspray. Our dressing room was on the fourth floor, and any time you needed me, I had to run to the audience, or dads had to bring you upstairs. By the end of the day, we were completely exhausted.
I was so proud of you. You were the model behavior of how to act at a dance competition. You didn't cry or fuss. You watched the girls dance, and loved every minute of it. Dada was a trooper and kept you happy, and rested. He took you for a drive to take a nap, and would track me down when you needed to eat. We spent 15 hours at the competition, then drove home, and you did amazing thorough everything. We are so blessed to have you as our child.

Dear Julie,
Today, was a very special day. We headed to Winston-Salem for our very first dance competition. However, that's not what made the day special. On our way, we stopped by Wake Forest, and you got to meet all the doctors and nurses who helped make our dream a reality. They gave us you, when we'd lost all hope. God is the ultimate provider, but He led us to this family of providers, and you were the result. I will never be able to thank God or Dr. Johnston enough. You didn't get to meet Roxanne, but Dr. Johnston got to hold you, and so did Lauren, and a few of the other office staff. We delivered cookies, which will be an annual tradition. Each year, we will make cookies, and send them to the staff. I nursed you in the room where you were placed in my belly, and the entire experience cake full circle. We didn't stay long, so everyone could get back to work, but it was nice to stop in and say "hi!"
After we left, we went to the mall to shop and have lunch, then we checked into our hotel. Today is your first hotel stay, and we brought way too much stuff for one little girl. However, we are completely prepared! Once we got set up, we stopped by the school where we're performing tomorrow, and checked the studio in. We watched a little, but then headed to the hotel for bedtime. Tomorrow will be a long day, so we all need sleep. Good night baby girl, and thank you God for this blessing.

Day 86 - February 17
Dear Julie,
Today, you made my heart smile. You finally (almost) fit in your dancewear. You wore a leotard, tights, and sweater to class today! Your ballet shoes are still way too big, but I was so excited to see you all decked out for class. You looked adorable! The tights were the best part of the ensemble. They were huge, and ended up under your armpits. You laid back, and looked at me like you were saying, "Paint me like one of those French models!" I had to snap a picture, and FaceTime dada to show him. I love yo, my little ballerina!

Day 84 - February 15
Dear Julie,
Today, you entertained all the girls at the dance studio! You've started rolling over, and I laid you on the ground during class, and they couldn't get enough! You're hysterical when you roll. You bend your legs, and lock both of them straight up in the air, twist just a little, and let gravity take over. I love watching you, and so do the dancers! After class, we had a pretty low key day at home, relaxing, rolling for a paci, and watching a little TV during tummy time. Today, you watched Baby First, and there was a kids hip-hop and rap segment. You nodded your head along to the music. I do believe music and dance are in your soul, and I can't wait to see you up and dancing with us soon!

Day 83 - February 14
Dear Julie,
Today, we celebrated Valentine's Day! I've had better mornings, but will never forge your first Valentine's Day. We took a bath together this morning, and you pooped all over me. Since you're only eating milk, you have soft poops, and now I know they dissolve when they hit water. Ugh. Let's not let this frappe situation happen again please. Ok?
Dada and I celebrated after bedtime, and enjoyed a wonderful home cooked meal of steak, shrimp, broccol, and potatoes! I had a few sips of wine to end the evening. Happy first Valentine's Day little one.

Day 82 - February 13
Dear Julie,
Today, we spent the day with Nana and Papa'll. It was cold outside, and you were so cute in your car seat. I had your winter cover on, and closed the section in front of your face. You didn't want to be trapped inside, and tried your hardest to break out. I looked down, and a tiny finger slipped through the opening. It was so cute, and I hope you always keep this determined personality.
You and Papa'll had fun in the kitchen today. He held you, ha sang songs to you, and I realized today how much you favor his features. You're a spitting image of him! This makes me so happy since everyone says you look just like your daddy.

Day 80 - February 11
Dear Julie,
Today, is Lilly's 4th birthday! We facetimed her this morning, and she was excited to talk to you. Your cousin loves her "baby Julie" and has stopped referring to you as hotdog! We had another slow day st home today. You tried your hardest to roll over today. I know you can do it, and you were so frustrated when you couldn't make it the entire way over. I'd put you on your belly, and you'd kick your legs and try to push yourself over. You'd push, and fuss, and push, and fuss. It was adorable to watch your stubbornness and determination! I can't wait to see you grow and mature, and see what wonderful, amazing things you'll do with your life. I love you little one.

Day 79 - February 10
Dear Julie,
Today, we got the proofs from your Valentine's Day photos! They're so good! I can't wait to have one printed for our wall.
Otherwise, today was pretty laid back. You talked up a storm, and napped well. Ani helped rock you to sleep, and I crashed on the couch beside you while you napped in the rock and play.

Day 78 - February 9
Dear Julie,
Today, you went swimming for the first time! Dada was home from work, and we decided it was time to share one of his favorite activities with you. We went to the YMCA in Tazewell, to the heated, therapy pool. I nursed you before we got started, then dads and I got you dressed. They don't sell swim diapers in your size, so you looked pretty funny! However, you couldn't tell once you had your swimsuit on.
You LOVED the pool! You played in the water for a solid hour before getting tired. When it was time to nap, we decided to head home. We were afraid that if we didn't wash the chlorine off your skin, your eczema would break our. So, we decided to give you your veery first shower. You were not impressed. The water was cold, the locker room was air conditioned, and you started screaming bloody mirder. I held you, while dads soaped you up, then we rinsed off. Dads took you to get dressed, while I took a quick shower. Then I got dressed and started to put clothes on you while dads showered. You never stopped screaming. You were cold, and unhappy, and you let everyone know. We finally got you calmed down in your car seat, by rocking you and covering you with blankets to keep you warm. You napped on the way home, and all was right with the world wheh you woke up.
We played for the rest of the afternoon, then it was time for bed. We out in your pajamas and swaddle, gave you your Zantac, and I nursed you while singing our sleepytime songs. Then the exorcism happened. You had a reflux attack, and started projectile vomiting. Everywhere. I just held you as vomit covered both of us and the glider. You threw up so hard that you just collapsed in my arms, and took a deep breath, like you were saying, "Shew, glad that's over!" Dada quickly started the tub, and you and I took a nice warm bath together. Then we started our bedtime routine over again, and you went to sleep quickly. I love you baby girl, sleep easy.

September 25
Dear Julie,
Today, you were fussy and clingy. You slept all night again - from 7:30PM-7:00AM - and woke up in a great mood. You and dada watched Star Wars in bed, and you couldn't take your eyes off the TV. Dada was so proud! After about 1 minutes, dada too you to play in the living room, while I got ready for church. You were happily playing, until I entered the room. You came crawling towards me, and started climbing up my legs. It was so sweet! However, when I put you down, you started crying. I handed you to dada, and you continued to fuss. Dada tried to feed you breakfast, and you refused to eat. I tried, and again, nothing. Do we got you ready for church, and left early so you could take a nap in the car. I let you sleep as long as possible in the parking lot, then we went in to church. You were out of it when we got there. You wanted to sleep, but couldn't. You eventually started singing along to the music, and laughed and bounced through the first few songs. Then you got restless, and I took you to the nursery. I usually just drop you off, and head back to the service, but since you'd thrown a fit already this morning, I decided to stay. You kept hacking to make sure I was there, but relaxed, and played. You also snuck a marshmallow today, and ate it before we could stop you! After church, we went home, and you took a really good nap. Then we headed to Nana and Papa'll's house for lunch. You refused to eat again, but we're content with just a few bites of chicken and dumplings. We played not with Nana and Kathy Prusa for a little while, then headed home for another nap. When you woke, we went shopping. You were not impressed, and our shopping trip was cut short to make you happy.
You made up for your lack of eating at dinner. I stopped by Taco Bell, and picked up an order of black beans and a cheesy roll-up. You are all of the beans, half the roll-up, a strawberry, and a full pack of baby food! Then you nursed for five minutes! I believe you have a hallow leg! You were still fussy st bedtime, and I had to repeatedly nurse, rock, sing, etc. for about an hour before you finally settled. Eventually, you fell asleep. I hope tomorrow you're back to your spunky self! Good night, baby girl, mama loves you.

September 13
Dear Julie,
I forgot to pack food for you, so you got to try oatmeal today! You loved it! You've had oatmeal in your bottle, and to thicken foods, but never as flavored food. You had Quaker Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal, and couldn't get enough.
You were so overtired, and your teeth were hurting, and we were both miserable. We left class an hour early tonight so you could go to bed.
Today was a very long day. Let me start off by saying that I love you, and that I wouldn't trade motherhood for anything. However, after today, I understand why people shake babies. You cried. All. Day. Long. I am so over today, and have never been so happy for you to be sleeping soundly.
You didn't sleep well last night. You were up every hour from 7PM-midnight, then again at 3AM, 4:30AM, and got up for the day at 6AM. You got to wear one of my favorite outfits today, and I can't believe that it still fits. You're so little, that this outfit has lasted six months!
We went to Nana and Papa'll's house to help Papa'll bake a cake, and you refused to nap. I put you down at 8:30AM since you'd gotten up so early, and you cried for an hour. I checked on you, and you just kept crying. I got you up, fed you some yogurt, nursed you, changed your diaper, and out you back down. You slept for 45 minutes, and we're ready to take on the day.
You played with Nana while I helped Papa'll in the kitchen, and then it was time for lunch.
Then it was time for another nap. I out you in the pack n play at noon. You screamed for half an hour. Then I decided to try to get you to sleep ok the car. I knew otherwise, you wou don't nap, and with class going until 9PM, not napping wasn't an option.
You fell asleep by the time we were out of the neighborhood, but, again, only slept for 45 minutes. We went on to the studio, and you did really well until 4PM.
You started to get really tired, and fussy, but refused to nap. I'd out you down, and you'd scream. We went to Nana and Papa'll's house during class to write up a bill of sale for the Subaru. We sold our car to one of our dancer's families, and had to get the paperwork ready before their class was over. My hope was that you'd fall asleep on our way to the farm. Unfortunately, you had different plans. You stayed awake, and didn't nap again for the rest of the night.
Every time I'd put you down for a nap, you'd scream. I finally gave in, and just out you in the bouncer.
You cried all day, and thought you were still smiling and happy, you weren't your normal self. As soon as we got home, I nursed you, and you fell asleep before I left your bedroom. Hopefully, you'll sleep tonight, and tomorrow will be better. I love you Julia Rose, even when you're overtired.

Day 77 - February 8
Today, you looked like an adorable little boy. You were dressed in your penguin pajamas, and played with Chewy.
So, to let everyone know that you're a girl, I added frilly socks to the ensemble! It was a little funny looking, but adorable nonetheless.
We headed to the studio for dance class, and it started snowing again. Schools were closed, but we met with the competition team to practice. Everyone ended up leaving early, and we got to head home too.
Day 76 - February 7
Dear Julie,
Today, we visited nana and Papa'll. They FINALLY are home from Florida! We've missed them so much, and FaceTime just isn't the same as being in their arms. You and nana were so thrilled to be reunited. You cuddled right up to her, and I took my favorite photo ever of the two of you.
You were so sweet with her, and nana talks so much when you're in her arms. I miss nana talking, and so which hat you could know the woman that I grew up with. You'll know your nana, but you'll never know her as she used to be. In her prime, she was the smartest, kindest, and most loving woman I've ever known. She's my best friend, and I hope that you and I will be just as close.
After playing with nana and Papa'll, we headed home, and daddy read your library books to you! You especially love the Click Clack Moo series, and we were excited to find another book from the collection. Daddy chose the Star Wars book, and Ani and Obi joined you when he was reading!
Day 75 - February 6
Dear Julie,
Today, we bonded over the Food Network. You don't really care for television, and it's not very often that we actually sit down to watch. However, today, I had Chopped playing in the background, and you really enjoyed watching the show. You stared at the competitors, and thought it was so cool!
Chopped definitely made tummy time more enjoyable! I got to watch a show that I enjoy, and you got to participate while working your neck muscles. You have such a strong neck, and hold your head up so well! Mama is so proud of you!
While you napped today, mama made a special hanging for the wall. I frames the items from the hospital that mean so much to us.
Your one side we had made as soon as we found out we were expecting, your hospital blanket, hat, umbilical cord clip, blood pressure cuff, and wrist bands, the pregnancy tests that showed we were finally expecting a baby, your first paci, and a vile of medicine and needles that helped with your conception. I can't wait to display this in our house, and to one day pass it along to you. I can't wait to share the story of your conception with you. You're not like most kids. You're extremely special, and were more wanted than you'll ever know.
You also took a nap with Chewy today, and it was adorable. It was like you were saying, "I can't even..." I could watch you sleep all day. We worked so hard on rolling over that you crashed for nap time. Mama loves you, little girl.
Day 74 - February 5
Dear Julie,
Today, your competition outfits arrived in the mail! I can't wait to see you in them! I still have to drop off the jacket to be embroidered, but its official. You're a competitive dancer!
Day 73 - February 4
Dear Julie,
Today was a crappy day. Literally. You crapped all over the place. Mama got to clean up poop from places she didn't know poop could be! I'm not sure how you had so much poop in you, but you have to feel better now that it's out! I also believe you lost five pounds. Wow, kid! Let's not repeat this blowout situation again. Please?
It never fails that you only have blowouts when you're wearing white clothes! And to top it off, these were fleece pajamas. If I didn't like them so much, we'd just trash them. However, they fit you so well that I'll try my best to get them clean. Here's to soaking pajamas in blue dawn and oxiclean for a few days, and hoping it works to clean the mess!
Aside from the crap show, today included relaxing, and watching baby tv. The cats were especially fond of sand art today! I could watch sand art all day long and never get bored. I'm sure one day soon, you'll also enjoy watching!
Day 71 - February 2
Dear Julie,
Today was pretty eventful! We spent the entire day out and about. Our first stop was Huddle House for breakfast, then we went to the library! Daddy and I took turns reading to you, and we picked out books to take home for bedtime.
After the library, we went to nana and Papa'll's house for dance class! On the first Tuesday of each month, Trader Jerry has the studio reserved for a gun safety class, so we moved class to the farm! Daddy and I moved all the furniture, and made a space for the girls to dance. You napped in the rockaroo while we worked!
You were so excited when you woke up! All your dancers were there to play!
You helped lead stretched, and gave everyone a great workout! You'd pull your knees under your body, and they'd do the same. You'd straighten your arms and legs, and the girls would follow. It was adorable, and everyone had a great time!
Then, when you were stretching with Kendra, Libby stole your playmat! She didn't know where else to lay, so she made herself comfy!
After dance class, we headed home, and went to sleep!
Day 70 - February 1
Dear Julie,
Today was fun! We played all day long. It started out in the sit me up, had a nap with Obi, tried on a funny hat, and ended with dance class. The girls got to try on their costumes today, and you had so much fun watching them. You also got to judge them...silently.

Friday, August 12
Dear Julie,Today, you grew up before my eyes. You've been sitting up by yourself for a long time now, but hadn't been able to make it from laying down to sitting up on your own. Today, you mastered the skill! It was nap time, and you started cheering, so I checked on you. To my surprise, this is what I found!
You were so proud of yourself! I put you down on your back, and you did this! You say up! All by yourself! We facetimed with dada to show him, then I put you on your back again, and you took a good nap. Dada and I talked about lowering your crib mattress, and decided it would be the first thing we'd do in the morning. However, you had other plans!
When it was time for your second nap, you started talking and cheering again. Here's what I found when I checked on you!
You were STANDING!!!! What happened to my baby? How did this happen so quickly? Mama isn't ready for you to grow up this quickly.
Since you pulled yourself up, I didn't have an option but to drop he mattress on your crib before bedtime. So, you played on the floor, and I got to work. Then you decided to help, and so did the cats.
You'd crawl under the bed, I'd pull you out, and the cats would jump in. It was a long process, but eventually, mama was successful, and your crib was ready. Not only do you have a lower mattress, you also have real bumpers! I'm so excited for this new step in your development, but oh how I wish time would slow down. I love this stage, and would love to keep you here forever. Mamas baby. I love you Julia Rose. More than you'll ever know.

Day 26 - December 19
Dear Julie,
Today, you rolled over for the first time. You're not supposed to be growing up this quickly! You aren't even a month old! You had a full audience, and rolled from your belly to your back. I tried my hardest to get it on camera, but was too late. I'm thrilled your reaching milestones way ahead of time, but I also know that you may be our only baby, and I want to savor every minute. Your firsts could also be our lasts. As much as we'd love a second child, it may not be possible, and we've come to terms with it. You are our blessing from God, and mommy and daddy are so in love. We are completely content with having only one child, and though you may have a sibling one day, we're not in any rush. We love you Julie, and can't wait to experience all of your "first" moments!
Day 30 - December 23
Dear Julie,
Today, you are one month old! How has time passed so quickly? The days and nights are long, but full of love. You have such a sweet personality. You smile all the time, and love to cuddle. You rarely cry, and when you do there's always a reason.
We started our morning in the bathroom. Mama had to poop, and you wanted to be with me, so I pooped while Ani babysat you at my feet. You were on a towel, and kept rolling side to side.
We played and sang all day, and then it was time for your pictures! You were in your Christmas pajamas, and looked adorable. I couldn't miss this photo opportunity!
Day 29 - December 22
Dear Julie,
Today, Ani decided he wanted to help change your diaper, and you thought it was hysterical!
You also tried your hardest to let Obi, but he stayed just out of your reach.
Day 20 - December 13
Dear Julie,
Today was your second bath, and it went soooo much better! You still don't like being cold, and screamed for a good bit of time at the beginning of the bath and when you got out of the tub, but you definitely started to enjoy the water today! Here's a few photos from the event!
